Gordon & Fiona

Gordon and Fiona Weir have worked together in organisational management for more than 20 years. Throughout this period they have provided substantial leadership and management for some noteworthy social care projects, particularly with Bethany Christian Trust, where Gordon was Manager of Bethany’s rehab unit for 6 years and then Director of Bethany’s extensive services to homeless people for a further 7 years. Previous to that Gordon and Fiona served as project managers in the drug and alcohol field with the Church of Scotland Board of Social Responsibility.

After being awarded a science degree (B.Sc.) from Glasgow University, Gordon qualified as a social worker (D.S.W.) at Edinburgh University. He also has a master’s degree in Social work Management (M.Sc.) from Stirling University.

Gordon is now pastor (part time) of Bethesda Evangelical Church, Helensburgh. Fiona is also employed to work with him in a broad range of church activities. Before moving to Helensburgh, Gordon was employed for 2 years as Community Development Worker with Bethany Hall Evangelical Church, Dumfries. He was also a Deacon for 10 years in Granton Baptist Church in Edinburgh and an Elder in Pencaitland Parish Church for 8 years. Throughout this period Gordon and Fiona led and developed a range of church projects, events and activities across the spectrum of church life.

While in Dumfriesshire, Gordon and Fiona provided training and development support to churches and organisations across South West Scotland. SKOPEO is not only the result of their management interest and abilities, it also embodies their passion to assist churches and “Care Sector” organisations to reach their full potential.
